Are You In The Overlap?

Where do you fit into this survey of fishing participation provided by the Outdoor Foundation?

If I lived closer to the ocean, I’d be in that 1.6 million group right in the middle of things that fishes everywhere in every which way. Note it’s tied with the smallest group in terms of participation: Fly fishing only.

Love those tarpon, reds, sea trout, snook, dolphin, maui maui, snapper—anything that can be roped in with fly, spinning, or casting gear.

Can’t be too far from the nearest steelhead, of course. Or bull bluegill. Sounds like Steve Martin. “And this smallmouth. That’s all I need. And this pike.” A jerk on one end waiting for a jerk on the other. I visit the salt a fair bit, but technically I’m in the 2.1 million crowd—folks that fish with the gear most likely to result in the most jerks, given the soycumstances. It’s all good.
