Christopher Pereira Hopatcong NJ Species: Walleye Date Caught: 09/02/2011 Kept / Released: Released Region of Catch: Region 1 Length: 28 inches Weight: 7 Lure / Bait used: Bait | Live Herring I just submitted my personal best monster hybrid striped bass that i caught yesterday and we decided we had to go out there at the same time near the same spot this morning. Good thing we did because i hooked another personal best, but this time a monster walleye! It was gut hooked but over the past year i’ve been successfully unhooking fish (mostly bass) by coming from behind the gills…a skill that i’m pretty sure i remember learning by reading an in-fisherman article a while back. It worked perfectly this time and i slid the hook out with no blood and minimal damage. Revived the fish, took a quick picture with the sunrise shinning through her fins, and let her swim away to hopefully grow bigger and spawn next spring!
