I was fishing from the dam on a 2 acre farm pond around 2:00 in the afternoon. I was making short casts with my carrot stick, swimming a 1/2 oz. black and blue football head jig with a super chunk trailer just below the surface, when the huge bass took off with my lure and headed for deeper water. I watched and waited for my rod to load up before setting the hook. As soon as I felt it, I knew it was a nice fish. I was using 30 lb. Spider Wire Stealth braid which allowed me to turn the fish and bring it into the bank within a matter of seconds. I couldn’t believe how big it was. I had finally caught my first trophy bass.
