The end of February 2013, made a trip to Glendo Reservoir to catch large channel cats through the ice. We walked about a mile pulling our ice sled to arrive at our destination. Drilled about 25 holes and started fishing. It was about an hour into fishing when I marked this channel cat on the sonar and it nailed a jigging shad rap tipped with a small chunk of sucker meat. This cat measured 33″ and 20″ of girth. 17.9 lbs. This catfish is still swimming! I believe in selective harvest. Large fish like this always go back into the water. The only fish we ever keep at Glendo are walleyes for table fair. The cat fish are large and old they need to be released to help preserve this great fishery.
