Doug Stange

In-Fisherman Editor In Chief Doug Stange has been in the fishing industry since 1975, when he first wrote for Fishing Facts magazine. In 1977, he began writing for In-Fisherman magazine, and joined the staff as an editor in 1981. He has been Editor In Chief since 1989, has been appearing on In-Fisherman Television since 1979, and has been a primary show host since 2002.

Stange loves fishing for everything that swims and has been the driving force behind the coverage of the variety of fish species featured on TV and in the magazines. He is well known for his pioneering work in catfishing, and in ice fishing, and in formulation of and promotion of In-Fisherman’s Selective Harvest Concept.

Stange has, in his role as a visionary for In-Fisherman editorial products, always insisted on a vital connection between science and hardcore field experience, so that articles and television shows constantly offer fresh perspectives and unique tips and tricks. He has been Rapala Angler of the Year, has received the American Fisheries Society Conservation Achievement Award, and was inducted into the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame as a Legendary Communicator, among many other awards.

Like other staff members, his life as a fishing educator isn’t about awards or accolades, but about being out in the field and in the office, living the dream of discovery, and offering anglers who deeply desire to better understand the fishing world success in doing so.
