About Rob
Managing Editor Dr. Rob Neumann plays roles in editing, writing, television, radio, magazine management, and other facets of editorial work at In-Fisherman. He holds a Ph.D. in fishery management and ecology from South Dakota State University, along with M.S. and B.S. degrees in fisheries from Texas A&M and Virginia Tech, respectively. He is a Certified Fisheries Professional by the American Fisheries Society, and is the first Ph.D. to become a full-time editor with a fishing magazine.
Before joining In-Fisherman, Dr. Neumann was associate professor of fisheries at the University of Connecticut and Southern Illinois University, where he taught courses in fisheries and conducted research on a variety of fishery management and ecology topics. He’s published numerous scientific articles in professional journals, technical reports, and book chapters, and has delivered many presentations to scientific groups, conservation organizations, and angling clubs.
His background has brought him to live in many areas of the U.S., allowing him to experience an array of fishery resources and hone angling skills for a variety of species in different types of waters. At In-Fisherman, he has continued to develop his expertise for a range of multispecies fishing, including bass, walleye, pike, muskies, panfish, and more. He’s an industry-leading expert in catfish angling, and has tackled many less-sought-after species such as gar, snakeheads, and other exotics.
Dr. Neumann’s unique career highlights the In-Fisherman quest to blend science information with fishing, particularly with a nose for bridging the gap between hardcore science and practical application to everyday fishing, so anglers can be more successful.
