Steve Quinn has been an editor at In-Fisherman since 1988 and currently is Senior Editor. In this position, he writes features and columns for In-Fisherman and the company’s seven annual guides, as well as working with free-lance writers. Like other staff members, he also contributes to In-Fisherman’s diverse media products.

Growing up in New York City, an interest in fishing blossomed through the concrete, thanks to summer vacations in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. With no fishing mentors, he learned the sport the hard way. Today, he’s happy to share information with other anglers and appreciates In-Fisherman’s many opportunities to do so.

After earning a B.A. in English from Dickinson College and working in the book publishing field and in outdoor education for urban youth in Manhattan, he obtained a M. S. in Fisheries Biology from the University of Massachusetts and subsequently worked for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, conducting research on bass and catfish populations and working in pond management. As a Certified Fisheries Scientist with the American Fisheries Society (AFS), he’s published many scientific papers and book chapters on fish biology and management.

Fishing his first bass tournament in 1975, Steve has remained active on the tournament scene and maintains contact with top anglers at all levels across the continent, as well as many fishing industry representatives. He fishes for many species and always is on the lookout for new techniques and innovative lures. He continues to volunteer with AFS as well as community organizations.
