Unexpected Catch

Unexpected Catch

John E Moore

Mount Vernon Washington

I was fishing a small lake in North Central Washington, catching mostly small Crappie, Temperatures started out so low that I had to break ice out of the guides for the first two hours. When the sun broke over the mountain and things started warming up, I started catching a few small Bluegill. I had a hit that bent the rod hard, and I had to quickly back off the drag to keep from snapping the light leeder that I was using. I got the fish to the bank, and was able to lip it to land it. I set my camera on the pickup and used the timer to snap the photo before releasing the fish.
