In-Fisherman Magazine Staff

Doug Stange, Editor in ChiefDoug Stange
Doug Stange is editor in chief of In-Fisherman publications: In-Fisherman and Walleye In-Sider magazines, plus the Walleye Guide, Catfish In-Sider Guide, Bass Guide, Ice Fishing Guide, and the In-Fisherman series of instructional books. He also serves as the editorial director of In-Fisherman television and videos. He is one of America's most accomplished multi-species anglers and has written about almost every aspect of freshwater fishing from ethical considerations affecting the sport to principles of catching fish. Doug remains enthusiastic about traditionally popular fish species such as largemouth bass and walleyes, but is also an advocate of less-popular fish like gar and carp. He has been integral in pioneering modern ice fishing techniques and many other aspects of fishing taken for granted by many of today's anglers. He is a widely recognized catfish angler and appears frequently on In-Fisherman television, videos, and radio.

Steve Quinn, Editor
Steve Quinn      Steve Quinn, who has been an In-Fisherman magazine editor for over a decade, is a Certified Fisheries Scientist with the American Fisheries Society. As the first fishery scientist to hold a position as full-time editor of a major fishing magazine, Steve has forged a dynamic relationship between fishery managers and In-Fisherman, with its legions of readers, viewers, and listeners. In this role, he has changed forever the quality of information delivered to anglers, not only in publications, but also on In-Fisherman television, radio, and videos.
A versatile multi-species angler, Steve fishes throughout North America while conducting research for articles. He has published many scientific papers on fishery management. Besides his primary duty with In-Fisherman magazine, he writes for Walleye Guide, Catfish In-Sider Guide, Ice Guide, and Walleye In-Sider, and serves as senior editor of In-Fisherman's annual Bass Guide. Like all In-Fisherman editors, he plays a key role on In-Fisherman television, radio, videos, and books.

Matt Straw

Matt Straw, Editor
Matt Straw started his angling career pursuing trout in the fabled backwoods streams of Michigan. Getting "spooled" in tiny brook-trout streams by runaway rainbows lead to two decades of pursuing the hottest steelhead runs in the Great Lakes region.
A former English teacher and newspaper reporter, Matt joined In-Fisherman as an editor in 1991. He has become one of the staff's most versatile anglers and writers, on topics ranging from conservation issues to hardcore angling. He writes for each of In-Fisherman's periodicals and is a mainstay on In-Fisherman television, videos, and radio.

Steve Hoffman, PublisherSteve Hoffman
Steve began his angling career pursuing catfish in lakes, ponds, rivers, and reservoirs across the Midwest. Ten years of travel in the Air Force gave him the opportunity to see some of the best freshwater fishing in North America from New England's hottest runs of stripers and bluefish to the trophy trout fisheries of the western mountains.
Formerly In-Fisherman's managing editor, Steve is a versatile multi-species angler, although catfish remain one of his favorites. After joining the staff in 1996, he was a primary source for catfish information for In-Fisherman magazine and the Catfish In-Sider Guide and continues to play an integral role in In-Fisherman television.

Jeff Simpson

Jeff Simpson, Editor & Staff Photographer
Jeff Simpson learned to target a variety of fish species while growing up in eastern South Dakota. In-Fisherman's youngest writer is a versatile multi-species angler who presently focuses his talent on tracking the action on the In Fisherman Professional Walleye Trail. He also serves as a primary writer for Walleye In-Sider magazine and does heavy duty for the In-Fisherman Ice Fishing Guide and Walleye Guide.
Jeff is In-Fisherman's primary field photographer and, like all In-Fisherman editorial staff members, also plays an integral role in In-Fisherman television, In-Fisherman radio, and In-Fisherman books and videos.

Rob Neumann, Managing Editor
Jeff SimpsonDr. Robert Neumann joined In-Fisherman in August of 2004 as Managing Editor. Rob holds a B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences (Virginia Polytechnic Institute); a M.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences (Texas A & M); and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences and Fisheries Management (South Dakota State).
Most recently, Rob was the Associate Professor and Assistant Director, Fisheries and Illinois Aquaculture Center, Department of Zoology, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. Before that he was an Associate Professor at the University of Connecticut. He has authored or coauthored over 100 scientific publications, technical reports, and various other fishery-related papers and presentations; overseen 28 state and federal grant proposals, and also has been published in popular media outlets.
Besides becoming the first Ph.D. fishery scientist to be the editor of a fishing magazine, Rob is a lifelong fisherman with a keen interest in everything associated with fish and fishing.
