The shallow rock crayfish bite on Mille Lacs is on. My son, Troy, and I spent the weekend trolling #5 Jointed Shad Raps along shallow rock reefs in six to ten feet of water. We caught walleyes up to 27 inches, dozens of perch up to 12 inches, and several smallies including this 21-incher, which had a 15-inch girth! This is my third smallie over six pounds, all caught on Mille Lacs. This fish was released, as were the other two.
