One of the reasons why Kansas City and northeastern Kansas is one of the epicenters of the piscatorial world is Joesph R. Tomelleri
Back in 1990, Doug Stange, In-Fisherman's editor-in-chief, said that Tomelleri's book entitled "Fishes of the Central United States" was the finest he had even seen. He extolled it as an indispensable publication. Stange praised Tomelleri's illustrations, calling them magnificent.
Since 1986, Tomelleri has created more than 800 drawings of the fishes of North America, and they have graced the pages of more than 350 publications, including some of In-Fisherman' s.
Here's a link to a You Tube video that is titled Trout by Joseph R. Tomelleri: a scientific illustration of a Mexican golden trout (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcZ-Cq0vt74). This short video exhibit's Tomelleri's genius.
