The History of Fishing: 1964-1974

The photograph above is a hurried snapshot of a book that arrived in a package in today's mail.

The book is entitled "Catching Fish." It's new edition of the book that the Lindners and Bill Binkldman published in 1974.

From my perspective as a retired archivist and an angler whose roots stretch back to Brainerd and Nisswa, Minnesota, in the 1950s, it looks to be an archival treasure trove about the angling world from 1964 to 1974. In fact, it is interesting to note that the Lindners call this "10-year span one of the most revolutionary periods in angling history."

I am yearning to read every word and report about what I read in a future blog. What's more, it will be a source for many tidbits and significant historical insights in scores of blogs to come.

The Lindners say that their next book will be called "The In-Fisherman Years," and we eagerly await for the mailman to deliver that second treasurer trove of angling history. A third book  will encompass their work at Lindner Media.
