Terrova Trolling Motor
To look at Minn Kota's new Terrova bow-mount trolling motor is to gaze into the future. It offers electric steering with digital-electronic interface for sonar and a built-in, completely protected transducer. The angler also has the choice of hooking up Minn Kota's patented AutoPilot feature to this new system.
The optional CoPilot accessory provides an on/off button and high-speed bypass for the AutoPilot feature. The fisherman working the bow of the boat can quickly shut off the AutoPilot to thoroughly cover a spot that produces a few quick fish. And with the high-speed bypass or "rabbit" button, the motor operates at the highest speed to reposition the boat fast or move quickly across a bay or narrows.
The standard Minn Kota controls everyone is familiar with are still there, now housed in a new, ergonomically designed, corded foot pedal that reduces wear and tear on the angler's legs. The new, waterproof, low-profile design puts less stress and strain on the foot and ankle and offers the angler a choice between heel-to-toe foot steering or left/right steering buttons.
Three models of Terrova are currently available, ranging in thrust level from 55 pounds (12 volt), to 80 pounds (24 volt), to 101 pounds (36 volt). Various shaft lengths are available, as well.
"This is by far the most advanced bow-mount trolling motor we have ever manufactured," according to Minn Kota Brand manager Joe Brown. "We spent countless hours on the water with hard-core anglers to better understand how they fish with our products, and the result of their input is the new Terrova."
