YUM introduced its Warning Shot to the angling world at the International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trade show at Orlando, Florida, on July 15-18. And straightway it caught the fancy of a couple of Midwest anglers.
During the first decade of the millennium, several of YUM's soft-plastic baits, such as its three-inch green-pumpkin Dinger and two-inch green-pumpkin Wooly Beavertail, played prominent roles in the lure repertoire of Midwest finesse anglers. Then YUM stopped manufacturing those soft-plastic finesse baits, and since then YUM baits have rarely graced the lips of Midwest finesse anglers' quarries.
Now with the creation of the 3 1/2-inch Warning Shot, a YUM soft-plastic bait might start playing a role for Midwest anglers again.
Between its cone-shaped head and thin blade-shaped tail, the torso of the Warning Shot is encircled with 13 pronounced ribs. Besides those ribs, its torso is endowed with a flat belly. There is also a short, narrow, cone-shaped section of the torso that stretches between the ribs and tail.

The ribs are said to generate an undulating motion that radiates from its head to its tail. According to the folks at YUM, the Warning Shot's flat belly activates an up-and-down swimming motion, which provokes the tail to wag from side to side.
YUM headlines it as a drop-shot bait, but Midwest finesse anglers will employ it on either a Gopher Tackle's 1/32- ,1/16- and 3/32-ounce Mushroom Head Jig or a Z-Man's Fishing Products' 1/15- 1/10-, and 1/6- ounce Finesse Shroom jig.
It is available in eight colors: Bold Bluegill, Ghost Shad, Green Pumpkin, Green Pumpkin Purple Flake, Morningdawn, Oxblood Red Flake, Watermelon Candy, and Watermelon Seed.

The suggested retail price for a package of 10 Warning Shots is $2.99.
