Build a Colorful 2-Piece Fishing Rod

Build a Colorful 2-Piece Fishing Rod

If you travel to fish, or fish to travel, you need rods that can make the journey with you. And even if you fish locally but like to keep your rod behind the driver’s seat to set a few hooks at your favorite stream or pond on the way home from work, a two-piece rod is the ideal solution. There was a time when two-piece rods were considered “beginner tackle”, but with today’s technology and advanced materials, the durability and performance of 2-piece fishing rod blanks is indistinguishable from their 1-piece cousins.

CRB Color Series Blanks

CRB made a vivid mark on the rod blank industry when they introduced the CRB Color Series. Engineered with a wide variety of actions, powers, lengths, and colors, the Color Series offers affordable rod blanks for almost any fishing application. And with the amazing array of color options—along with a huge variety of thread colors from ProWrap and the CRB Color Series Spinning or Casting Seats—rod builders can now truly customize their fishing rods with almost any color combination imaginable. Not only can you craft an amazing looking rod, the high strength yet lightweight CRB Color Series blanks were designed for high performance on the water.

Available in 2-Piece

Leveraging the latest in ferrule technology, the CRB 2-Piece Color Series rod blanks were introduced to provide the same performance specifications and capabilities as their preceding 1-piece brethren. With ferrule profiles that are thinner and stronger, anglers no longer notice a difference between fishing with single- or multi-piece rods. Just get to the water, put the ferrules together, cast, and catch.

Building 2-Piece vs. 1-Piece Rods

Building a 2-piece fishing rod is no different than building a 1-piece, except for two minor tasks. First, you will need to find the spine of both sections of the rod blank (instead of just one) and then align the spines of both sections to ensure you are creating a single, continuous rod spine when the two pieces are connected. Rod builders also add an additional ferrule wrap over the female section of the ferrule, providing additional strength and stability (this also offers another opportunity to provide a unique design or color to your custom rod). That’s it. All of the steps to position and secure the handle grips, reel seat, guides, and tip top are the same as with building a single piece rod.

So, if you’re a destination angler or if you simply want the convenience of maneuvering a less cumbersome fishing rod before you get on the water, consider building a custom 2-piece rod. The CRB 2-Piece Color Series carries 6 different colors in 6-foot, 6-foot, 6-inch, and 7-foot lengths in a variety of powers, so that you can design the perfect rod—just for you! Plus, you will benefit from CRB’s legendary quality and value.
