It's the last weekend of Turkey season. I go to southwestern Indiana to hunt. I bag a 21 pound Tom with a 10' beard and 28mm spurs. So I switch to fish mode. Saturday is 80 degrees. A cold front moves through Sat. evening. So Sunday morning ,we have Bluebird skies and a high of 60. So I try a Strip pit for the first time. I catch a 12' crappie on the 1st cast. 4 casts later I land an 18 incher.(biggest for me. going on the wall). I released 5 more over 14 inches. Also caught and released a 22' Largemouth bass. All on a # 5 orange and black Mepps spinner. While fishing from the bank. And the same spot. I never would have thought I'd catch fish like this the morning after a coldfront.
