Big-money event with no 'Scoping next week

Big-money event with no 'Scoping next week

The Touring Anglers Association is set to conduct its debut event next week at Lake Lanier in Georgia. With a $5,000 entry fee and a top prize of up to $125,000 (depending on number of entrants), it's expected to draw some big-name anglers.

The event will be conducted without tournament staff and with no forward-facing sonar, LiveScoping or 360-degree imaging allowed. Practice will consist solely of a four-hour ride-around on Monday, with the three-day derby getting under way Tuesday.

Here's the information that appears in the "About" section of the TAA website:

TAA Mission

Touring Anglers Association is a nonprofit social membership organization dedicated to promoting ethical fishing and conservation practices, providing camaraderie and competitive fishing opportunities to its members, and preserving the heritage of angling for future generations.

TAA Philosophy

TAA’s philosophy is to create a simple old-fashioned fishing tournament for the fishermen by the fisherman.

Tournament operations will require anglers to participate in tournament logistics. Contribution from the anglers is imperative for the success of this tournament as we will have no staff.

TAA tournaments will be scheduled on weekdays intending to avoid conflicting with other tournaments. This tournament is meant to be a supplemental tournament.

This format will eliminate overhead costs, resulting in more earnings as well as strengthen camaraderie among anglers.

This tournament is intended for touring anglers, not necessarily for local anglers or guides.

Sponsors will not be included in the first tournament. If the first tournament shows signs of success, TAA will try to negotiate a substantial sponsorship in which 100% of the proceeds will be put into the prize money.

TAA is designed to dramatically reduce tournament costs and significantly increase winnings for anglers. Our mission is to offer anglers a fishing tournament that pays out the maximum cash prizes. The world’s largest performance-based cash earnings.
