In-Fisherman Classics: Cutting Edge South Carolina Redfish

Certain redfish techniques are easily transferable to freshwater fishing, such as largemouth bass.

In this video, then In-Fisherman publisher Mike Carney explores redfish techniques that are easily transferable to freshwater fishing, such as largemouth bass. Sight fishing for reds is a fantastic and interactive way to chase fish along the coastline. They are brutes willing to bite and fight as hard as any fish in freshwater making them a fine target for anglers looking for adventure.

00:00:19.350 --> 00:00:36.060: Although In Fisherman Magazine is the Journal of Freshwater fishing editors also explore saltwater to learn tricks that can be applied to freshwater as well from sharks in shallow water to skyrocketing tarpon and saber tooth barracuda.

00:00:37.650 --> 00:00:56.940: This fishing often is a very visual affair that is sight fishing often plays an important role. Before we focus on sight fishing for shallow small mouth bass, we travel momentarily to the estuary waters surrounding Charleston, South Carolina as in fisherman, publisher Mike Carney and Shakespeare fishing tackle.

00:00:56.940 --> 00:01:11.340: Gary Reman Snyder joined Captain Jr. Waits in a quest, a redfish. What we have here is we have some moisture shell bars right out here that are exposed just along the bank here, and fish are gonna be moving down the bank in real shallow water.

00:01:11.340 --> 00:01:25.290: We'll be looking for pushing, pushing away, or either throwing a mud boil. There you go. That's a nice fish there. You actually saw him coming too in that wave of fish.

00:01:25.290 --> 00:01:34.920: Didn't the JR and I just threw it way out in front of him, just letting him come and eat it. Yeah. This guy's big, look at that.

00:01:38.400 --> 00:01:48.690: That's what we've been looking for South Carolina redfish. As you see, sight fishing for red fish is a classic affair indicative of sight fishing.

00:01:48.690 --> 00:02:02.340: For almost any fish species swimming on one hand, fish are either literally seen and pursued, or even more likely, the structure where fish typically hold is spotted and then expertly fished in order to contact the fish that should be holding there.

00:02:02.340 --> 00:02:15.370: Fundamental to successful site fishing is an expert's understanding of the nature of the fish species being pursued and how that fish species will therefore relate to the immediate surroundings. Daddy, big boy.

00:02:16.495 --> 00:02:18.900: There he goes. See you next time.
