Staff Perspective: There was a time when I thought reel speed was a gimmick, but after being in countless scenarios where I needed to pick up slack line as quickly as possible for a solid hookset, I learned why. There are many times when flipping or even casting jigs that a bass will pick up the bait out of reaction on the fall, that’s when you need to pick up line and set the hook before the fish drops the bait. Same with a frog in the slop—walk-the-dog topwaters? There’s even an argument to be made with jerkbaits—among others. Bottom line is the newly redesigned Rocket gets the job done—and fast.
