Fishing Gear: Old Town Sportsman 106 Powered by Minn Kota

Old Town Sportsman 106 Powered by Minn Kota

Description and Application: The Old Town Sportsman 106 Powered by Minn Kota motorized kayak is simple and intuitive, getting you on the fish faster in a compact, low-profile kayak you can car top. Powered by a 45-pound thrust 12V saltwater-ready Minn Kota motor that gets you effortlessly there and back. It features a powerboat-style throttle for intuitive forward and reverse, a built-in battery meter and runs on both lead-acid and lithium batteries. The motor combines with foot-brace steering for truly hands-free fishing and exceptional maneuverability. The boat comes standard with premium seating for all-day comfort, durable dual-layer textilene is UV resistant and easy to clean. A mid-layer of 3D mesh adds comfort without inhibiting Textilene's natural breathability and its removable for transport. Four 18-inch tracks enable easy on/off mounting of accessories in countless configurations.

Staff Perspective:I have spent many hours in this boat, and I can assure you it’s fast, stable and offers a fantastic fishing platform. Not only is the drive system innovative and intuitive, but it’s reliable and pretty darn quick—it turns on a dime when the foot braces work with the rudder—be careful though, you can turn too fast if you’re not paying attention. I like the fact that this rig was built by anglers with hardcore anglers in mind—it shows it throughout. It comes in two colors.
