P6500 Polaris Open Frame Generator
Description and Application: The Polaris family of generators includes this 6500-watt output, open-frame portable power source that keeps up with RV adventures, ice-fishing wheelhouses and anything requiring reliable portable power—even backup power for at least a portion of your residence in case of a power outage. The P6500 carries a rated AC output of 6000 watts, and a max output of 6500 watts. It also features a dual starting system including a recoil cord and electric starter, two AC receptacles, cord management system, and more. The generator will hold 6.6 gallons of gasoline and on a rated load it will run for 5 hours. The unit weighs 223 pounds but can be easily maneuvered thanks to a built-in cart with wheels.
Staff Perspective: The noise level comparison is that of a busy restaurant, and it’s ideal for a fridge, freezer, furnace, well pump, heat pump, tools and a whole lot more. A generator like this gives me confidence to visit some uncharted areas or keep the wheelhouse warm when the mercury dips into the -10s. The Polaris P6500 meets U.S. EPA and A (CARB) exhaust emission regs, and a USDA-qualified spark arrestor/muffler. In other words, there’s a ton of technology jammed into this thing that you can rely upon in a pinch.
Cost: $1,699.99
