The big baitcaster tipped with a live bluegill started to twitch ever so slightly, the breeze seemed to come to a halt, then the line started to pull out "click click click" Then without warning the line starts screaming out, I picked up the pole and set the hook to try and stop the beast from pulling line out, but even with the bail closed and the baitclicker turned off it still sounded the exact same. Once I hooked up I knew this was going to be it, It was going to be a master angler award no matter what fish species this was on the end of my rod. I fought for what seemed like ages, It took an entire 3 and a half hours to tire the fish out, and I was nearly at my limit. We got it in and my dad reached down and pulled the enormous 47", 42 pound flathead out of the water, I don't ever remember smiling that big, even at my high school graduation, this will always be a proud day for me to remember.
