Tiger Trout

Utah boasts the world’s best fishing for tiger trout, the beautiful and feisty results of cross-breeding brown trout and  brook trout. They’re now found in 41 Utah waterways, including rivers, lakes, and reservoirs. One of the mot noteworthy is Scofield Resevoir, where the last two state records have been set, the most recent over 18 pounds.

Given the aggressive nature and large size of brown trout, and the willingness of brookies to bite in summer or winter, it’s little wonder that these stocked fish are growing in popularity by the month.

Anglers score with small spinners and jerkbaits, and tigers also take a well placed fly, such as a woolly bugger or streamer. Ice fishing is good, too.
