Fishing Gear: H2OX Mettle Baitcaster

H2OX Mettle Baitcaster

Description and Application: The H2OX Mettle carries the look and feel of an expensive reel, but at a comfortable price point. It features a durable 1-piece aluminum frame, centrifugal brake system to prevent backlash, a lightweight aluminum spool and durable aluminum handle. The hinged sideplate allows for easy access and adjustment. Available online or at your local Academy Sports + Outdoors retailer.

Staff Perspective:In a day and age where rods and reels seem to get more expensive, the Mettle is a breath of fresh air for anglers looking to keep budget a priority. The baitcaster is available in a righthanded model and a 7.3:1 gear ratio—perfect for a number of different presentations. This is a solid option for young and beginning anglers looking to master the baitcasting technique, yet still appeal to experienced anglers alike.

Cost:$69.99
