Description and Application: The Zenon was developed for those who desire the very best to complement their skills, regardless of whether anglers are fishing for fun or a paycheck. The new spinning reel isn’t cheap, but it’s jammed full of cutting-edge attributes the novice and veteran will find appealing, complimented with a list of innovations and exquisite durability. The Zenon features a body design that is noticeably smaller than the spool and rotor complimented with a one-piece gearbox with no side plate, while the frame is integrated into the stem.
Abu Garcia engineers created a striking look after eliminating all empty space commonly found in spinning reels. It comes standard with a silky-smooth drag system that will stand up to strong power-runs at boatside from angry walleyes, smallmouth, largemouth and the ferocious spotted bass. The Zenon is also equipped with low-inertia, silent-rotation rotors and an ultralight hybrid spool. It’s available in 6.2:1 gear ratio and sizes 20 and 30, which weigh a mere 4.9 and 5.4 ounces respectively. The reel will be available in March 2021.
Staff Insight: Technology continues to advance in the fishing space, and it never ceases to impress me. The new Zenon from Abu Garcia is no exception. If you spend any measurable amount of time chasing bass, walleyes and panfish, you understand the ergonomic stress your arms and hands sustain, an ultra-lightweight reel makes a huge difference. Not only is it light, it’s extremely smooth and durable that produces the kind of performance a hardcore angler can rely on. This is one sweet spinning reel.—TA
