Big Surprise while bass fishing

Randy Shirk

Sunday June 9th, I was trying out some new spinner-baits at a local pond near my house. To my knowledge, there were Largemouths, Carp, and Sunfish in the pond. I had caught a dozen or so bass that morning, including a few fish that surpassed 3 lbs. On one particular cast, I threw the lure out and hooked a fish about half way through the retrieve. I wasn't sure if I'd hooked a bass because the fish wasn't fighting as much as the others I'd caught. Once i worked the fish to the bank I realized that it wasn't a bass. Instead it turned out to be the biggest crappie I'd ever caught.
