Early Morning Top Water Bass

I was up early on the morning of June 9 and elected to go fishing instead of my typical Saturday morning run. I arrived at the pond a little before 6 am just as the sunrise was beginning. An unusually calm morning (typical a breeze). With the mist rising off the pond, I decided to toss a topwater (Rapala Skitter Walk). After letting the bait settle, I made five or six twitches with my rod tip and stopped. I noticed a wake behind the bait (similar to a musky). I again twitched my rod and walked the lure another three feet and stopped it - no wake. Five more twitches and a big gulp, the bait was gone! After a good fight - she came out of the water twice - I lipped her, took her measurement and shot four quick photos with my camera phone. She swam away nicely for another person to catch (if not me again!).
