Echo Lake is one of four Newark NJ watersheds which allow fishing by permit. I was fishing a weed bed 30 yards off shore and there was a small stickup protruding out of the water.
I cast a double cowgirl past the stickup and started my retrieve when I hooked the fish. She sure wanted to stay down. Was a great fight! To my surprise a boat was passing me from behind, maybe 50 yards out.

One of the guys shouted "He's got a Muskie." He asked if he or his friend could help me but the last thing I needed was a boat next to me, I said no. I netted the fish with a Frabil conservation net.
The guy, Kevin asked to come aboard to take pictures and help measure the fish. Since I was alone I said yes and his picture is attached!
