Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits' 3.5-inch Swim Senko

The three-inch Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits' Swim Senko has become a staple in some Midwest finesse anglers' repertoire. Now it has a sibling that is a half inch longer, and that new one was unveiled at the International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades at Las Vegas on July 9-12.

Gary Yamamoto says his Swim Senko is half Senko and half swimbait. And it can be presented to largemouth, smallmouth bass and spotted bass with a variety of retrieve styles. For instance, Midwest finesse anglers affix it to a small jig, such Gopher Tackles' Mushroom Head Jig, or on a small skirted jig. When it is employed on a Gopher jig, Midwest finesse anglers usually retrieve it with a swimming motif similar to the steady-do-nothing retrieve that the late Charlie Brewer of Lawrenceville, Tennessee, developed decades ago. When it is affixed to a small skirted jig, Midwest finesse anglers can slowly swim it the way Tom Monsoor, who is a professional angler on the FLW circuit from La Crosse, Wisconsin, swims one of bigger jigs. Besides swimming it, some Midwest finesse anglers like to hop and bounce it along the bottom, and other use the swim-glide-and-shake retrieve.

Gary Yamamoto said that he created this 3.5-inch rendition especially for finesse anglers in the northern states who focus on smallmouth bass, and for these anglers he also developed two new colors: goby and perch, and it is available in 10 other colors.
