Gear Guide: Jackall Lures' Darts Hog
July 12, 2013
Jackall Bros.' Darts Hog was designed to be employed on Jackall's skirted Spade Jig. But the folks at Jackall say it can also be fished alone on a split-shot rig, Carolina rig, and slip-sinker rig. And it is likely that some Midwest finesse anglers will shorten it a touch and affix it on either a 1/16- or 3/32-ounce Gopher Tackle's Mushroom Head Jig with an exposed hook.
In essence, it is a four-inch creature bait, which exhibits some of the features of Zoom Bait Company's classic Brush Hog and Super Hog.
Its torso is graced with 13 ribs, two appendages on each side of its torso and a claw-like appendage protruding from its head.
Jackal says it is made from a product called Edum, which is a biodegradable material, and within 60 days it becomes water and carbon dioxide whrn it lies in water.
It's available in a variety of fish scented colors, such as cola, blood, watermelon, green pumpkin, pearl silver, and black. The tips of some the claw-like appendages are enhanced with a touch of chartreuse, orange or purple, and the ends of all the claws made with powdered glass, which makes them very buoyant.
A package of six can be purchased for $5.50.
