The Extension Tool for Multi-Piece Rod Blanks

The CRB Blank Extension Tool is the simple solution to the most common custom rod building problems encountered while wrapping and finishing multi-piece fishing rods.

Solves Common Multi-Piece Rod Problems

The CRB Blank Extension Tool is a must have for any rod builder working on multi-piece rods simply because it solves the most common problems.

For instance, ferrule wraps used to be an increasingly difficult task, but not with the CRB Blank Extension Tool. All you need to do is insert the tool into the rod segment you are working on, set it in your CRB stand, and use it as a sturdy wrapping aid for perfect ferrule wraps each time.

Or when you need an easy and clean way to apply epoxy right to the ends of your ferrule wraps, no problem! The CRB Blank Extension Tool fits precisely in any of the CRB RDS Drying Systems, making it easy to dry even the smallest sections of a multi-piece rod.

The guaranteed solution for custom rod building's most difficult tasks, the CRB Blank Extension Tool is the ideal aid for building any multi-piece fishing rods.

If you have yet to build a multi-segment rod before, let's take a closer look at how this helpful tool can make it easier than ever.

Wrap Perfect Ferrule Wraps

Multi-piece fishing rods come in segments and each segment is designed to fit into the next. These connection points are referred to as ferrules.

When the ferrules are put under increasing stress, they may crack or split, which means the rod segments no longer fit together. That's why many rod builders recommend wrapping and finishing these connection points to provide support—similar to the reasons for wrapping a guide. This process is generally referred to as a ferrule wrap.

All you need to do is slide the extension tool into the rod segment you are working on, and rest the segment on your rod stands (usually centered over your CRB Hand Wrapper), and it provides a sturdy base where you can comfortably wrap thread over the ferrule ends.

The CRB Blank Extension Tool makes ferrule wraps easier than ever so check one out today!

Ideal for Finishing Ferrules on Multi-Piece Rods

Once you have completed the ferrule wraps, you will need to apply the epoxy finish.

To accomplish this, all you need to do is insert the extension tool into the rod segment end (that has the thread wrap) and chuck that end into the CRB RDS Drying System, and rest the other end on a rod stand.

Now you have a sturdy base that is level, so after you finish applying your epoxy, your ferrule wraps will come out perfect every time!

CRB's incredible series of custom rod building equipment, including the Blank Extension Tool, should have a place on every angler's work bench because they are designed by some of the most experienced rod builders in the industry.
