Meet the groundbreaking addition to the Old Town Sportsman Line—the BigWater ePDL+ 132. This watercraft features the first seamlessly integrated battery-powered pedal drive, providing unmatched versatility for kayak fishing pursuits.
“We are incredibly excited to introduce the watercraft that does it all,” said Alex Sherbinow, Marketing Manager of Johnson Outdoors Watercraft (Old Town).
“A fishing kayak with unmatched versatility combining manual pedal propulsion, power-assisted pedal, and fully motorized cruise control.”
The new Old Town Sportsman 132 Bigwater ePDL+ fishing kayak. The patented ePDL+ drive system is fully integrated into the newly renovated Sportsman BigWater 132 hull, allowing anglers to seamlessly switch between manual pedal, power-assisted pedal, or fully motorized cruise control. The easy-to-use ePDL+ drive system provides up to five levels of power assistance, unlocking the ability to maintain higher rates of speed longer than ever before. To break from pedaling altogether, anglers can engage cruise control, take their feet off the pedals, and let the motor take over. Full control of propulsion power settings is just a button push away using the intuitive keys and polarized sunglass-friendly display on the drive. Anglers can view the level of power-assisted pedal or battery power consumption right in front of them as they pedal toward their desired location.

“The ePDL+ technology introduces a novel way to experience the water, giving anglers the confidence to extend their time fishing with ease,” he said. “Navigating and fishing variable conditions like large bodies of water, tidal conditions, or river currents from a kayak has never been more accessible.”
Built on a legacy of quality and innovation, the Old Town Sportsman Line is manufactured in Maine and comes in three unique colorways, Ember, Marsh, and the all-new Steel Camo. All models from the Sportsman Line, including the BigWater ePDL+ 132, boast a limited lifetime hull warranty and share an impressive array of features. EVA foam floor pads and upgraded breathable seats provide all-day comfort and support whether sitting or standing. At least one forward-facing rod holder and a branded tackle box make changing lures or landing a fish a breeze. Full-length accessory tracks paired with intuitive storage options allow full customization and accommodation of favorite accessories.
Additionally, the BigWater ePDL+ 132 features enhanced upgrades including a wider stern tank well, larger cup holders, and an improved offset shallow water anchor mount. A compact 36-volt lithium-ion battery comes included with the watercraft, and anglers have the peace of mind knowing that the ePDL+ drive comes standard with a 2-year warranty.
