I was fishing with my dad and brother on a farm pond at a friend of my dads who lives near Linton IN. It was the last day of our 3-day fishing trip and it was overcast and drizzling rain off-and-on. We were fishing a small pond that couldn't have been more than 50 yds long and less than that across. I was fishing a slip bobber and minnow on 6 lb test line in one corner of the pond when I noticed a number of good-sized bass cruzing by. I cast-out maybe 6-8 ft when one of those bass hit my minnow. I knew it was a decent size when I set the hook. Not wanting to loose it by lifting it too high out of the water, I backed up and dragged it to the shore. Just as it landed on the bank, the line broke. Quick reaction prevented me from loosing the fish. After my dad took the picture, I released it back to the pond to fight another day. Don't overlook small bodies of water, there just may be a lunker in there.
