Big Kansas rainbow trout, an update

Big Kansas rainbow trout, an update

Clyde Holscher of Topeka, Kansas,  and Guide Lines Guide Service reported today that Jay Melkus' pending state record rainbow trout did not withstand the test of time.

The reason for that was Nicole Wilson of Topeka caught a rainbow trout at Lake Shawnee that weighed 15.43 pounds. Her trout was 33 inches long and had a girth of 19 inches.

Until Wilson landed and registered  her pending state record, Jay Melkus had the pending state record, which he caught at Lake Shawnee on Mar. 7.  Melkus' trout weighed 14.28 pounds. It measured 30.5 inches in length with a girth of 18.75 inches.
