Rapala DT8
Description and Application: The DT (Dives-To) series of crankbaits, dive fast to a preset depth and stay in the strike zone for extended periods of time. Made from the top 7% of balsa wood, this consistent wood combined with carefully placed internal weights, tapered fuselage and thin tail design creates the ultimate crankbait action. The ultra-thin polycarbonate lip digs the bait down quickly to desired depth. Swimming with a side-to-side action only balsa crankbaits can achieve, the DT cranks deep, yet pulls with ease. Internal baritone rattle is tuned for best sound performance. The new DT8 meets the same standards the other baits in the DT family have set and exceeded.
Staff Perspective: I have extensively used the DT crankbaits for years, and I personally think they are one of the finest cranks you can buy. For years, there was a gap in the DT lineup and the new DT8 fills that void in a big way. There are times when a DT6 runs too shallow and a DT10 runs too deep—it all depends on the fish, of course. To say I’m excited to add a DT8 to my DT collection is an understatement. There are lots of colors, including multiple custom paintjobs from Bassmaster Elite Series pro Mike Iaconelli. The DT8 deserves a place in your arsenal.
