ICAST 2020: New Freshwater Spinning Rods

Strength, sensitivity and sleek design are prevalent features evident in the new batch of freshwater spinning rods coming your way after browsing the rod section of ICAST Online. From new signature series models built to a pro angler’s exact specifications to new additions to existing product lines, the focus increasingly seems to be on delivering high-quality components that offer high-end performance at price points that suit many anglers.

Daiwa | Rebellion

Among the 19 new blank designs in the Rebellion lineup are three spinning models – all 7-foot – all of which incorporate Daiwa's HVF Carbon Technology, which creates a smaller, lighter, more rigid blank. The X-45 Bias construction provides strength and prevents twisting while the Air Sensor reel seat adds sensitivity. Available in medium light, medium and heavy action.

Ever Green International | Combat Stick Gizmo Special

Specially designed to fish small Ever Green Gizmo topwater baits. The action is designed to cast the lighter baits and the double extra-fast tip enhances the pull/vibration on the top of the water. The Solid Mega Top tip adds additional sensitivity and Fuji Tangle Free K-Guides allow small jigs to be cast farther.

Lew’s | KVD Series

Seven graphite models bearing KVD’s initials and stamp of approval to cover virtually all bass applications. Made with premium IM8 blanks and paired with a proprietary Full Contact reel seat for increased blank contact. Rear locking seats for improved comfort Equipped with stainless steel guides with aluminum oxide inserts.

Okuma | Psycho Stick

Designed with light and responsive 46-ton, low resin carbon blanks with each displaying a unique pattern design from butt to tip. Built with Okuma’s Ultimate Matrix Reinforcement technology which strengthens the outer walls of the blank giving it strength and reinforcement where it is needed most. The SeaGuide injected carbon reel seat and rear grip make for all-day comfort. Available in 7’2” medium action and 7’2” medium-light action.

St. Croix | Legend Xtreme

Five spinning models are among the 11 total models in St. Croix’s most sensitive rod series ever. The reengineered SCV carbon found in the new Legend Xtreme results in enhanced durability and unprecedented sensitivity. An improved, overlaid ART (Advanced Reinforcing Technology) yields the highest levels of carbon fiber density found in any fishing rod on earth. Available in 6’3” to 7’6” models covering a range of freshwater techniques.

Halo | Scott Canterbury Signature Series

Built with Japanese Nanofiber Graphite for added sensitivity and durability. The blank is lined with stainless steel guides with zirconia inserts for maximum performance. A proprietary reel seat and comfortable grip will reduce hand fatigue. Available in 6’10” medium-heavy action.

G. Loomis | IMX-Pro Ned Rig Rod

High-modulus graphite is the backbone for this new addition to the ever-expanding IMX-Pro series. Geared toward anglers smitten with one of the most popular finesse techniques going, the Multi-Taper Design allows for optimal action, power and reduced weight. Available in 6’11” medium-light action and 7’4” medium action.
