Around 200 ice anglers were stranded on Upper Red Lake in Beltrami County, Minnesota, on Monday, after the ice that they were fishing on broke apart from the shore. About 30 yards of open water separated the anglers from land.
Authorities were dispatched around noon after receiving 911 calls. Several agencies responded, including the Beltrami County Sheriff, Red Lake Nation Fire, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and local businesses.
A temporary bridge was set up that allowed the anglers to reach the shore safely. No one was hurt in the incident.
