...had the whole lake to myself...cloud cover, light wind, and no one else around! I was using an over sized top water buzz frog over the lily pads and something made a wake behind it the size of a wake my kayak would leave behind... but no strike...I knew it was a musky. So i turned and went around the back to park myself for a better position into the lily pads and started casting again. Again a wake but it turned at the last second. Then 5 casts with nothing and i started to think i blew my chance...one more cast and 10 ft away i saw this massive beast engulf the frog and turn. I just held on to the rod and let it hook itself and this thing went absolutely berserk! I was only using a revo reel with #20 braid and a super thin knot 2 kinky #25 leader so i had to be very careful! It kept jumping out of the net since i could only do so much with two hands and it just wouldn't fit! Finally i got it in and it lost it's mind thrashing...ripped a huge hole through my net and started slithering out of it! So i said NO WAY and i just grabbed its' head with two hands and hauled it over the side of the boat into my lap...and it's tail was still in the water!47 inches! it was such a rush i felt nauseous after it was all over! Held this huge beauty in the water after a quick picture for a few minutes until it swam off with a kick of it's tail to grow even bigger!
